Paradera - ADOPTED 7/18/21

Dero loves going out. Besides spending time doing whatever we want, he does perk up when we put our shoes on and grab his leash. It's so amazing to see the transition from when he first came and didn't know what the leash was and what "outside" was.  Now he just walks up to the door, sits for you to leash him (most of the time) and then his ears perk up when he hears all the noises. He sticks his nose up in the air for all the new smells (aka bbqing) lol.  He's learned from our dog when our neighbors walk their dogs he wags his tail and stands there. He doesn't bark, he doesn't pull but he's definitely curious. Thank goodness because he has gotten quite strong. Dero wouldn't mind a family with another dog who loves to play too. He definitely wouldn't mind a wrestling buddy!! Some days I feel bad because our little sheltie really tries, but he's just a tad on the small side so he can't take Dero's play power. His mouth play and just ...

He's definitely got the puppy eyes. He's just such a goofy toddler that doesn't realize he's grown and stronger and bigger than he was when we first got him.  He always loves attention and just wants to be by his humans. He wants to know where you are at all times and wants to be the biggest lapdog ever.  He's learning to "self sooth" and will find a toy and lay down and play. Or eventually he'll lay a little further, not right in your face, and chill. He's learning the "bubble" concept, slowly but surely. He knows when he's naughty and he gives "that look" and then rolls over on his back and shows his belly. You have to TRY hard not to lose the straight face.  He definitely needs an experienced owner who can stand firm on training and repetition.  Best if his new family loves exercise and exploring. He's got all the energy in the world and needs to expend it however possible.   

 It's amazing how gentle Dero can be when our little one wants to pretend walk the dogs. Mind you if he were outside with the biggest space ever, he'd take her for a whirl, no doubt. He can give me quite the pull (something we're working on). But it's amazing how tolerant he is and just how much he needs to always be next to her. 

So it's suppose to be yucky weather outside. That doesn't stop Dero from helping us settle all our new flooring by running back and forth and practicing sliding around. (It's funny because he's used to carpet and this is a whole new world!) Him and our dog has been getting better along. He's learning his own strength and being more gentle when he's playing with our 12 lb dog since he's officially twice his size.  He's beginning to understand undertones and demeanor which is great because he's getting too big to deter one handed anymore. When you give him "the stare" he eventually sits or lays down. He definitely has no problem giving his belly for submission when he's done something wrong.  Otherwise, he's eating, GROWING and just a happy dog.  In the last week when we look at him when he's standing tall and ears fully upright when he smells or sees a neighbor walk by, he really looks Great Dane. He's never going to get that...

  Dero (my daughter can't say Paradero, so she nicknamed him lol)  He has outgrown my sheltie, taller and longer, getting harder to pick his butt up for sure!!  Still thinks he's a tiny puppy so these pictures are quite reflective of what you always see because he always wants to be in you face. Lol  His manners are getting better. He's just a puppy, high energy excited. Potty training is getting better, then it rains and we regress. But I've learned he's less distracted when my dog isn't out there and he'll more hurry to do his business. But he's always wants to play. 

  He has definitely been more stubborn than most I've had. But he finally gets the "going outside" thing.  For the longest we tried treats, waiting it out, even long walks JUST for him to come home and pee. He still has his accidents but most the time now he'll go outside. We still have to get him to poop outside, not sure why that's a thing too.  He's lost multiple puppy teeth. Most he chewed up, one we got a hold of but it was pretty chewed up already.  He is starting to sit by the door and jump up and nuzzle you in the morning when he needs to go potty. He loves to chew on everything..... I mean everything. His favorite are bully sticks and antlers.  He has been eating a ton, as he should. And hes grown so much since we got him. Tall enough to stand and pull something off the counters (yea not impressed lol)  He's still a hyper cuddle bug. Wants to just be next to you and all your attention.
